Family Support Services (FSS) Recreation Program
Champions for Life’s FSS Recreation Program brings people with developmental disabilities together with direct support professionals for fun and exercise at the Champions for Life Sports Center and Everest Park. We are the only recreation program for FSS located in Cayuga County, and all surrounding county residents that are eligible can participate!
Our fully interactive process matches the FSS participant with a one-on-one mentor and tailors a program for the individual and family alike, contoured to their needs and abilities. Activities focus on skill-building, physical fitness, coordination, emotional and behavioral development and socialization, and are always FUN!
Explore our gym and play on our gymnastics equipment, kick the soccer ball around in the sports arena, or learn how to play tennis! Other possible activities include power soccer (through CNY United), games, arts and crafts, lacrosse, homework help and so much more! We want our participants to get the most out of the experience while building them up through virtue and positive thinking.
If you know someone who is receiving services for Family Support Services through the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), they are eligible for this program! To apply for the recreation program at CFL, complete this application form and provide proof of eligibility (eligibility letter) from OPWDD/FSS. Not sure of eligibility? We can check for a TABS ID number. No TABS number? We encourage you to call the Central New York Front Door Contact number at 315-793-9600, Ext. 603. You can also click here for more information on the Front Door.
